Kindle - the unofficial manual. Guidebook tips and tricks - ...

"Kindle - the unofficial manual. Guidebook, tips and tricks" – INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER - is currently the most extensive English-language Kindle handbook around and aims to live up to its title. The e-book was Amazon's official bestseller 2011 in Germany. In France, Italy and Spain it occupied top positions in the Kindle charts for months.

"Kindle - the unofficial manual. Guidebook, tips and tricks" describes Amazon's successful family of e-readers in plain English. It invites you to a tour through the many functions of the device. You won't be left alone even in the depths of the configuration and of the file system. The book tells you how to use your Kindle optimally. You learn what to read, hear and watch with the reader and how to adapt the device to your needs so to save time and money.
If you're interested, we'd like to bring you from entry-level Kindle user up to the level of a pro who can get the very most out of his Kindle, even including programming apps for the Kindle and writing your own books.

The helpful guide stems from the plentiful pool of experience both authors have amassed with all revisions of the Kindle. The English version combines German engineering background with the thorough translation of a native English speaker (and Kindle user himself). All tips and tricks, discovered by the world wide Kindle community, were checked thoroughly before being described in the guide.

You'll find that beyond the basics we've been able to bring together a great deal of true insider knowledge. We've also asked for contributions from guest authors from the programmer and hacker scene that will hopefully show you entirely new sides of the Kindle.

About the authors:

Matthias Matting is a physicist and journalist - and an avid e-book user since they were invented. He's known for “Matting's product tests” — texts and videos on YouTube, Facebook, and Focus.de that are characterized by competent, comprehensible, and entertaining reporting on the most exciting gadget topics. At the Frankfurt book fair in 2011, he received the book prize "Der Neue Buchpreis" in the non-fiction category for his e-book “Travel to Fukushima”.

Frank Großklaus is the founder of threebooks Publishers and has been an e-book fan for many years. His “e-book career” began in the late 90's with the monochrome handheld PCs from Palm and Psion. He's worked since 1999 in digital media as a consultant and project manager. Besides that, Frank Großklaus works as a coach and offers training and lectures on the topics of e-commerce, affiliate marketing, online marketing, and e-books and digital publishing.

Talking Back to Facebook The Common Sense Guide to Raising ...

A smart, urgently needed book that helps parents and their kids navigate today’s online landscape—from the founder and CEO of the nation’s leading authority on kids and the media.

Is my kid a cyberbully? Does online privacy exist for children? When should kids be allowed to use Facebook? Should preteens have cell phones? Did the Internet give my child ADHD? Should I ban violent video games?

Now, more than ever, parents need help in navigating their kids’ online, media-saturated lives. Jim Steyer, founder and CEO of Common Sense Media, the nation's leading kids and media organization, and the father of four children, knows that many parents and teachers—unlike their technology-savvy kids—may be tourists in the online world. Now, in this essential book, Steyer—a frequent commentator on national TV and radio—offers an engaging blend of straightforward advice and anecdotes that address what he calls “RAP,” the major pitfalls relating to kids’ use of media and technology: Relationship issues, Attention/Addiction problems, and the lack of Privacy. Instead of shielding children completely from online images and messages, Steyer’s practical approach gives parents essential tools to help filter content, preserve good relationships with their children, and make commonsense, value-driven judgments for kids of all ages.

Not just about Facebook, this comprehensive, no-nonsense guide to the online world, media, and mobile devices belongs in the hands of all parents and educators raising kids in today’s digital age.
